Most organizations find out something went wrong when a user calls the help desk, an auditor asks for a log that does not exist, or a breach notification arrives from a third party. By that point the window for clean remediation has usually closed. Continuous monitoring exists to move that discovery point from days or weeks after the fact to minutes after it happens — or before the condition becomes a problem at all.
We instrument your environment with agents, log shippers, and collection pipelines that feed into a centralized monitoring stack. Every system in scope — servers, endpoints, network devices, cloud workloads, identity platforms — sends telemetry continuously. Configuration state, authentication events, privilege use, network flows, file integrity, policy compliance status. If something changes that should not have changed, or something happens that matches a known-bad pattern, the platform knows within seconds.
What We Watch
Configuration drift is one of the most common paths from compliant to non-compliant without anyone noticing. A patch gets applied, a setting gets changed, a service gets enabled to troubleshoot something and never disabled. We baseline every system in scope and alert on any deviation from that baseline. Drift gets flagged immediately — not discovered three months later during an internal audit.
Authentication anomalies: failed login spikes, successful logins at unusual hours, logins from unexpected geographies, service accounts authenticating interactively, privileged account use outside approved windows. These are the behavioral indicators that precede the majority of both insider incidents and external intrusions.
Privilege escalation and lateral movement: accounts accessing resources they have never accessed, new administrative group memberships, scheduled tasks created by non-administrative accounts, remote execution from workstations that should not be executing remotely. These patterns are consistent across attack types — ransomware, APT, and insider threat all leave similar telemetry.
Compliance posture: patch levels against required baselines, certificate expiration, encryption status of drives and communications, MFA enrollment status, firewall rule changes, and user access certifications. Compliance is not a point-in-time state. We track it continuously so your posture is always current — not just at audit time.
The ELK Stack — Our Monitoring Platform
Our monitoring infrastructure is built on the Elastic Stack (ELK) — Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana — deployed and managed by our team. We moved away from Jenkins-based pipeline automation for log processing because the licensing and infrastructure cost at scale was not justified by what Jenkins actually provided for this use case. ELK handles ingestion, parsing, enrichment, correlation, alerting, and visualization in a single integrated platform at a fraction of the operational cost.
Elasticsearch handles the storage and search layer. Logs and telemetry from your environment are indexed and retained according to your compliance requirements — 90 days, 1 year, 7 years depending on the framework. Every event is searchable in seconds, which matters when an incident response or audit request requires reconstructing exactly what happened and when.
Logstash handles ingestion and parsing. Syslog, Windows Event Log, cloud API logs, application logs, network flow data — all parsed into structured fields, enriched with asset context, and normalized before indexing. When an alert fires, the data behind it is already clean and actionable rather than raw log text that requires manual parsing to understand.
Kibana provides the visualization and alerting layer. Dashboards give your team and ours a real-time view of system state, authentication activity, compliance posture, and active alerts. Detection rules run continuously against indexed data — both real-time stream-based rules and periodic queries that look back over windows of time for patterns that only become visible in aggregate.
On-Call Engineers and the Escalation Sequence
Monitoring without response is just expensive logging. When the platform identifies a condition that requires human judgment, it does not just send an email. It triggers a structured escalation sequence.
Alerts are classified by severity at the point of detection based on the rule that fired and the asset involved. A failed login on a standard user account on a non-critical workstation generates a low-severity event that gets logged and reviewed in batch. A successful authentication on a privileged account outside business hours on a domain controller generates a critical alert that pages an on-call engineer immediately.
The on-call rotation is staffed by our engineers — not a tier-1 SOC who will read from a script and escalate after 45 minutes. The engineer who receives the page has the context to act. The alert includes the affected system, the triggering event with full log context, the detection rule that fired, the asset classification, and the recommended first response. Response time from page to first action is measured in minutes, not service level agreements measured in hours.
Escalation tiers: an initial on-call engineer responds first. If the situation requires additional expertise — a specific platform, a specific compliance domain, a suspected active intrusion — the escalation path is defined and the next engineer on the chain is paged. If containment decisions are required that affect your operations, your designated point of contact is looped in with a clear situation report before action is taken. Nothing that affects your users or systems happens without you being informed.
